At my kids’ elementary school, they have created a fun way to encourage the students to get out & run.  Over the course of the school year, they log the miles they run during recess.  The kids who get qualify get to participate in a super fun “marathon” day at the end of the school year.  Everyone gets a free t-shirt, they turn on “Rocky” themed music & they run four laps around the high school track with parents & teachers cheering them on.  The cutest thing was to see the kids speed up every time they ran in front of the bleachers.  I loved the fun, positive environment that was created to encourage kids to be more active! My kids look forward to race day all year.
